Fancy Writing About Your Match?

Just as an idea I thought that while I'm off the bank I'd offer some people a chance to guest here!

I'm a big believer in sticking to using gear I have confidence in, and in this line I have bags of it! I've been using this line now since it came on to the market (now re-badged as just Power - it was formally Powerline) some ten or more years ago.

I've had odd tries with newer lines but none of them have matched up to the durability and reliability and I have always gone back to this line. I know people will point out it's understated dia on the spool (I checked with a micrometer how far out they are, and at .10 and below they are fine), but as long as you are aware I don't see a problem as you adjust accordingly. I've never caught a fish that has complained that the line isn't quite as it says!

Away from the diameter issue, it's quoted B/S is accurate (plenty of lines are not - try some!), and as someone who now really only fishes carp dominated venues it's abrasion resistance is a big plus in making sure a rig lasts out a bagging session. It knots well too, and while I seldom tie hooks on the bank now, it's just easier at home during a prep session not to have to be over careful - it speeds those boring bits up a touch! It's perhaps not the most supple line, but it's a trade off I'm happy to make. Despite some manufacturers claims, I don't believe you can have everything!

I suppose the popularity and longevity of this line on the market is a testament to how good it is - it's seen off a couple of other lines by Preston in it's time. At £5 for a 100m spool it's good value too! I can't see me switching away from it any time soon.
